Benefits manifold from Home Star Energy

The Home Star Energy program is a new campaign launched by the Barack Obama government which prescribes that all homes must pertain to certain standards of efficiency.

Energy efficiency has become crucial in all aspects of usage because of the looming energy crisis and it is a good thing that the government has decided to look at it seriously enough to launch a program covering the entire United States – thus upping the awareness and compliance among the peoples.

According to White House representatives, the Home Star Energy program offers a lot of cost savings to home owners who are in the act of improving their homes to be more energy efficient.

This includes repairs or replacements of equipment that do not give concomitant output (say, heating or air conditioning) for the energy they consume.

The standard of efficiency for comparison here is also declared by the government so that there is no ambiguity on what is expected of an ‘efficient piece of machinery’. With the Home Star Energy program under way, home owners stand to gain not only on the front of cost savings for weatherizing their homes, but also see a considerable reduction energy bills. So it is a win-win situation for both the government and the peoples.

The critical point to be understood here is that the President does not desire that we should stop using energy for our daily needs, but merely that we should restrict wastage. The main culprit behind energy wastage is improper sealing and insulation of ducts, windows and doors of homes that are centrally air conditioned or heated.

Switching off computers, lights and other household electric appliances is another small but efficient way of limiting energy wastage. Saving energy here would also mean lower emission of greenhouse gases and a smaller carbon footprint for America.
